She is gray.
She is unpopular.
She shits on everything we hold dear.
She likes to walk, even though she is in fact a flying artist. With her red feet, she walks between us, wobbling her head, almost blending in with the tar and concrete of our city—as if she were an indispensable part of our everyday lives. And she is everywhere: a true city resident. From the curb or from a window sill, her bright orange eyes watch us from strange perspectives: in any case, rarely at eye level. Instead, she tilts her head as if she wants to ask something.

“When pigeons sing” finally brings her onto the stage and hands her the microphone. The theater collective äöü invites you to a musical evening about the city pigeon. Playful, voracious, likeable, and at times melancholic and suffering from indigestion, she allows us an unusual glimpse of ourselves and our world. Yes, it is not the lark whose chirping will reach your ears, nor the nightingale with her melody.
